ATTENDING SCHOOL IN FINLAND

The school system in Finland offers a wide selection of subjects to exchange students, especially an abundance of foreign languages, e.g. English, French, German and Russian. Acquiring skills in a rare language like Finnish or Swedish may turn to be of great value to an exchange student.

The level of literacy in Finland is among the highest in the world and the school network fully covers the whole country emphasizing equality between students. The recent PISA study showed that the Finnish students are one of the best readers and writers in the world.

Tuition is free and also includes a warm lunch at school. The Rotary clubs provide means for buying necessary books and other materials for exchange students. Besides the ordinary curriculum, specific vocational and university level studies can also be arranged. The clubs are often willing to help the exchange students to find worthwhile school programs.
